Our Products

Our company core business is to produce and distribute tapioca starch, starch sugar and tapioca ethanol (in both fuel and industrial grades) from tapioca roots, chips and starch.
The company can categorize our major products as follow:

Tapioca or Cassava Starch

Tapioca starch is produced from tapioca roots which has average starch content of 22-28 percent. The starch is produced by extracting protein and fiber out from fresh tapioca roots which is called Native Tapioca Starch. Native Tapioca Starch that is freshly produced daily, it contributes to high quality with longer shelf life.

Liquid Glucose

One of the company’s main products is liquid glucose which is Sacharide solution that obtained from starch liquefaction process. The process also purifies and condenses which characterizes slightly sweetness, odorless, stickiness, and colourless liquid. The company mostly delivers products in capsulized tanks and occasionally delivers in 200 liters steel drums. The different liquid glucose specifications are differentiated by the level of Dextrose Equivalence (D.E.) which currently differentiated into level of D.E. 26 and D.E. 40.

Dextrose

Another company main product in Dextrose production line is Dextrose Solution. Dextrose solution is produced from the process of liquefaction of Sacharide solution. The process also purifies and condenses which characterizes sweetness, odorless, stickiness, and colourless liquid. Most of the time, Dextrose solution is a base product that use to produce Dextrose Monohydrate, Dextrose Anhydrous, Hi-Fructose syrup and D-sorbitol 70% Solution at Dextrose Equivalent (D.E.) 98.

Company profiles

P.S.C. Starch Products PCL is one of the companies under P.S.C. group.

Under the group, the first company was established in year 1945 which was located in Eakkamai area, Bangkok. The company produced cane sugar as its major product. In year 1972, many types of Thai industries were expanded sharply especially in Agriculture Deep Processing industry. This encouraged and made the company to re-locate the company to Muang suburb, Samutprakarn Province which changes its core business from producing cane sugar to be the first starch sugar producer in Thailand that produced Liquid Glucose and Dextrose Monohydrate. The company also invested its business in downward integration in steel drum industry which name as followed:

  • P.S.C. Steel drum Ltd. was established in 1985 which produces steel drum size from 48 – 200 liters. P.S.C. Recon drum Ltd. was established in 1993 later on to recycle the used drums to process to new drums which located in Bangpoo industrial estate.
  • In 2002, the unsuitable environment in producing starch sugar in city and surrounding suburb areas and the significant increased in starch sugar demand, are the main factors that encourage the company to relocate to Nongyai suburb in Chonburee province. The plant started up with the amount of land of 1,200 rais (192 hectares) and in 2010, the company extended the amount of land to 2,200 rais (352 hectares). The reasons are to produce and distribute the range of starch sugar products produced from tapiocas with modern and highly automated technology which concerns about the environmental friendly such as obtaining energy source from bio-gas technology etc.

Production Process

Wet Starch Production Process

The loader tractor will feed tapioca roots into the hopper which will be moved by the conveyor belt into miller. The tapioca roots will be separated out from the sand and washed before feeding into the production line. The waste water which is created from the process will be treated and released into the buffer zone.
After tapioca roots already pass cleaning process, it will be feed into the miller which will mill tapioca roots into tapioca milky starch.
This section, the process separates tapioca fiber which leaves milky starch with fine pulps after milling section.
This section, the process separates fine tapioca fiber which leaves milky starch to be readied to feed into the drying section.
This section, the concentration level of milky starch is adjusted to the required level to be readied to feed into the drying section.
This section, the centrifugals will remove the water out from milky starch which leaves starch with high moisture content.

Tapioca Starch Production process

Wet Starch is drying in this section, after drying starch will be cooled down.
In order to filter out large molecule starch size, the production process had designed the siever tray to filter out large molecule starch out to make sure it reaches super high grade native tapioca starch.
Produced starch will be packed in the size of 25 kg., 50kg. , 500 kg. or 850 kg. depending on customer requirement where most companies currently use 850kg. packaging.

Liquid Glucose and Dextrose Solution production process

Milky starch is transferred to adjust to the required concentration level.
Milky starch is fermented in this section by acid and enzymes fermentation.
This section, the process filter liquid glucose and dextrose solution to increase the purity.
This section, the process is adjusting the colour from yellowish to colourless which depending on each customer requirement.
In order to increase the level of stiffness or Brix parameter of liquid glucose and dextrose solution, the process manager adjusts the level of Brix which suits the usage depending on each customer requirement. After liquid glucose and dextrose solution are evaporated to the customer required brix level, it will be packed in capsulised tank truck and steel drums to be delivered to the customers.

Fuel Grade Ethanol Production Process

It is the first process in ethanol production line where tapioca roots and chips are milled into milky starch.
The process where our company processes milky starch into liquid starch sugar by adding enzymes.
once liquid starch sugar has transferred to this section, the process manager adds yeast into liquid starch sugar for further fermentation until it meets the level of alcohol content requirement. The qualified alcohol will be transferred to the resting tank to be readied to deliver to the next distillation section.
Once the qualified alcohol is delivered into distillation section, there are three towers to distillate the alcohol to 95% alcohol content.
After that the desired alcohol will be processed in dehydration part which dehydrates the water out of the alcohol until the alcohol reaches the content of 99.9%.

Carbon Footprint Reduction

Our facility implements energy-efficient technologies and processes to minimize carbon emissions while maintaining the highest product quality standards.

Waste Minimization

We optimize our production processes to reduce waste generation and maximize resource efficiency throughout our manufacturing operations.

The environmental impacts occurred in producing starch sugar are wastewater from the process, pollution of the wastewater and waste raw materials. Our company pays attention in environmental friendly and figure how to handle the environmental issues as followed:

Wastewater

The wastewater created from production process comes from different sections which create approximately 5,000 Cubic Meters of wastewater per day. Our company combines wastewater into combined wastewater ponds by the gravity flow design before sending it to water treatment process. There are two types of wastewater treatments which are HssUASAB (High Suspension Solids Upflow Anaerobic Sludge Blanket) and Facultative pond. HssUASAB bio-gas system is a treatment system that digest molecules and create bio-gas which our company uses bio-gas to generate steam energy and generate electricity. After wastewater treatment has been treated, wastewater will be processed into the facultative system as the last process before spray it into our buffer zone.

After the wastewater has been processed from the facultative ponds, wastewater will be kept in retention pond to be sprayed to eucalyptus and palm oil plants in the plantation area of 1120 rais or 180 hectares. This shows that there are no wastewater pollution and none of the wastewater going out of the process.

The diagram shows the wastewater treatment in HssUASB and Facultative system
This strict Zero-Discharge process ensures that absolutely no wastewater pollution is released into the surrounding environment.
